From NJ Pride:
The world is moving toward greater equality. But LGBTQ children still face backlash, bullying, and ongoing discrimination in school, from the middle grades on up through college. As part of North Jersey Pride Month, PFLAG and North Jersey Pride will co-host a discussion designed to help parents of LGTBQ children become their kids’ best advocates, both in and out of school.
Panelists include:
Rev. Diana Wilcox of Christ Episcopal Church, and Chaplain, Montclair State University
Brian Edwards, M.S.Ed., coordinator of the LGBTQ Center at Montclair State University
Phillip N. Siculietano, M.A., Affirmative Action Officer, Nutley School District
Kerri McCaffrey, award-winning poet and transgender fifth grade teacher in NJ schools
Moderator: Cheryl Restaino, educator and leader of PFLAG North Jersey
Date/Time: Thurs., June 9 @ 7:30pm
Location: Christ Episcopal Church, 74 Park Ave., Glen Ridge
Admission is free.
