From Mount St. Dominic Academy:
Mount St. Dominic Academy will honor Maplewood residents Jackie and Gerry O’Connor — devoted volunteers and parents of three graduates — at its Hall of Fame Gala on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at The Valley Regency in Clifton.
The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize a member of the Mount community who has brought outstanding honor to themselves, to their family, to society, to humanity and therefore, to the Mount by their accomplishments in the field which they have chosen and/or by the life they have led.
This year, The Mount is honoring Maplewood residents, Jackie and Gerry O’Connor. Jackie and Gerry O’Connor are the proud parents of three Mount graduates: Ashley ’09, Sarah ’13, and Emily ’15. Their son Thomas is a junior at St Peter’s Prep in Jersey City.
Both Jackie and Gerry received their B.S. degree from SUNY Old Westbury where they met and have been married for over 25 years. For the last 10 years, Jackie and Gerry have been active volunteers at The Mount with Lions’ Paw Athletics, the school family picnic, Tricky Tray, and the capital campaign for the Athletic Center and Performing Arts Center.
The couple has been involved with MSDA Holiday Basketball Festival, Jackie running the snack bar and Gerry being the announcer and scorekeeper. Jackie is a staff member of the MSDA Advancement Team and Gerry is the Executive Director of The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children.
Also being honored at the gala are:
- The Honorable Madeline Cox Arleo, parent of MSDA senior, alumna of Dominican education, US District Judge, pioneer of the annual MSDA Pink Mass;
- Mairead Costello Clifford ’89, alumna of Mount St. Dominic Academy, committed to empowering young women through Catholic education, co-founder of Trinity Hall, an all girls high school in Monmouth County; and
- Reverend Michael A. Hanly, retired pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Parish, Verona, fervent supporter of the young women of MSDA, and celebrant of many Mount liturgies.
Their induction will take place at a delightful evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing and an auction, hosted by Mount St. Dominic Alumna Theresa Priolo, Reporter/Anchor for FOX 5 News and Good Day New York; and chaired by Mount Alumna Monica Perkowski and former Mount principal Sister Jeanne Adrienne, OP.
All proceeds from this affair will benefit the students of Mount Saint Dominic Academy. Visit www.msdacademy.org for more information.
