The South Orange Public Library will re-open Tuesday, July 5 after having being closed for a week following the discovery of bed bugs in the upholstered furniture.
The library is being professionally exterminated to eradicate the bugs, according to library director Melissa Kopecky. The SOPL was already scheduled to be closed July 2-4 for the Independence Day holiday, and it will reopen at 10 a.m. on July 5.

The bugs were found only upstairs in the upholstered furniture, and none in the carpets, books, or downstairs, according to a Facebook post from Village President Sheena Collum.
Staff will again operate an outdoor kiosk at the back door on Friday, as it did on Thursday. “We will be doing the outdoor kiosk library tomorrow from 11 a.m. -3 p.m. so folks can check out materials for the holiday weekend,” said Kopecky.
