From the South Orange-Maplewood Adult School:
Assemblywoman Mila M. Jasey, who served three terms as a member of the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education, including two years as its president, will receive “The Gus and Thelma Sickles Life-Long Learning Award,” presented by the South Orange-Maplewood Adult School. The event will be held at Columbia High School’s Black Box Theatre Wednesday, May 18 at 7:30 pm. The community is invited to attend.
Serving her third term in the Assembly, Ms. Jasey is Chair of the Assembly’s Higher Education Committee, Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on the Public Schools, Vice-Chair of the Housing & Community Development Committee and a member of the Education Committee.
The award is given each year to a person who embodies the model that Gus and Thelma Sickles established as supporters of life-long learning. It is presented to a person who, by example and otherwise, has encouraged others to participate in life-long learning and has enriched their lives.
Assemblywoman Jasey has built a reputation as a leader in the area of education.
