Maplewood Police Arrest Two for Alleged Shoplifting at Extra Supermarket

The Extra Supermarket on Irvington Avenue was the target of two separate alleged shoplifting incidents last week, according to Sgt. Christopher Black of the Maplewood Police Dept. On March 22 at around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of shoplifting at the store and arrested Torre Garrett, 38, from Newark, for allegedly attempting to steal several items.

Three days later, on March 25 at approximately 6 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance at Extra; when they arrived, they found 42-year-old East Orange resident Keshonda Ballamy arguing with a security guard over Ballamy’s alleged attempt to steal several items including a bag of shrimp, Black said. Police arrested her and charged her with shoplifting.

March 21, 2016; Theft from Vehicle; During the overnight hours an unsecured vehicle parked in a driveway on Hudson Ave was entered and change was stolen from it.

March 22, 2016; Theft from Vehicle; During the overnight hours an unsecured vehicle parked in a driveway of the 20 block of Boyden Ave was entered and change was stolen from it.

March 24, 2016; Theft from Vehicle; During the overnight hours an unsecured vehicle parked on William St was entered and a wallet removed.

March 27, 2016; Theft from Vehicle; During the overnight hours an unsecured vehicle parked in a rear driveway on the 300 block of Boyden Ave was entered and cash was stolen from it.
