Maplewood Police arrested two men who allegedly robbed a Maplewood man who was walking on Hudson Avenue last Thursday afternoon.
The man was walking at around 3:50 p.m. when he was approached by two men who took his cell phone before fleeing in an older model tan car, said Sgt. Christopher Black. After Detective Rella saw a car fitting the description traveling into South Orange, he, along with other Maplewood officers and officers from the South Orange Police Department, followed the car west on South Orange Avenue until the driver pulled over, said Black.
The car was found to be stolen out of Newark. Police arrested Michael Reid, 21, of Irvington and Dwayne Ballard, 28, of Newark and charged both with robbery, Black said. Police were able to recover the stolen cell phone.
