On Tuesday, October 20, Rick Salkowski was sworn in as Captain in the Maplewood Fire Department. Salkowski took the oath before the Maplewood Township Committee; it was administered by Township Clerk Liz Fritzen.
Salkowski’s wife Kristin, son Christopher and daughter Hannah were on hand to witness the ceremony.
According to Maplewood Fire Chief Michael Dingelstedt, Capt. Salkowski was appointed to the Maplewood Fire Department on Sept. 8, 1999.
“Capt. Salkowski is well versed in firefighting and rescue operations, and has always assisted in sharing his knowledge during training evolutions throughout his career,” said Dingelstedt in an email to Village Green. “I am confident that he will continue with this work ethic as he meets the new challenges and tasks associated with his promotion.”
Capt. Salkowski will be assigned as a company officer of Eng. 32 on Platoon 4.
