Police: Maplewood Man Reportedly Robbed for Bus Fare

A Maplewood resident reported being robbed Friday night as he got into his car on Jacoby Street, by a man who asked him for bus fare.

The resident said the man approached him at around 11 p.m. and asked him for bus fare, said Sgt. Christopher Black of the Maplewood Police Department. After he handed over three dollars, the man demanded more money, said Black. The victim, who said he saw another man standing across the street who appeared to be with the suspect, was able to drive away, Black said.

October 21, 2014; Burglary; During the afternoon hours a two family home on Menzel Ave was entered. At the time of the report a small amount of cash was reported missing

October 15, 2014; Theft from Vehicles; During the overnight hours five vehicles were reportedly entered and items removed. All of the vehicles had been unlocked and were located on Woodside Rd, Brookwood Rd, Hoffman St and Jefferson Ave.

October 22, 2014; Bicycle Theft; Sometime over the previous two days, a locked bicycle was stolen from the Maplewood Ave side of the train station.

October 23, 2014; Motor Vehicle Theft; Between 6 and 11:30 PM, a Mazda parked on Hilton Ave was stolen. As of this writing it has not been recovered.

October 26, 2014; Theft from Vehicles; Between 10 PM and midnight an unsecured vehicle parked in the driveway of a Jacoby St residence was entered, A purse that was left in the vehicle was reportedly stolen.
