Two 15-year-olds from Newark were arrested by the South Orange police on Friday, June 27, after shoplifting items from the 7-Eleven on Valley Street.
The two teens ran from store after removing several items. Officers responding to the scene apprehended the juveniles a short distance away, arrested them and processed them at police headquarters.

Criminal Trespass/arrest
Iyana Mathison, a 21 year old East Orange resident was arrested on 7-2-14 at approximately 6:05pm after officers responded to a dwelling on Vose Ave. on a call of a female on the homeowner’s front porch. Officers responding to the scene located the subject hiding behind bushes on the homeowner’s property. The subject was arrested at the scene and processed accordingly.

Warrant arrest
Ronald Jeanfrancois, a South Orange resident was arrested on 6-30-14 at approximately 10:00am after he was stopped for committing a motor vehicle violation on South Orange Ave. and during said stop it was discovered that the subject had outstanding warrants issued for his arrest. The subject was arrested without incident and processed accordingly.
Shoplifting/juvenile arrests
Two 15 year old juveniles from Newark were arrested on Friday 6-27-14 at approximately 9:05pm after they had committed thefts from the 7-11 store located on Valley St. The juveniles fled the store on foot after removing several items. Officers responding to the scene apprehended the juveniles a short distance away. Both juveniles were transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.
Warrant arrest
Dmitry Tyutin, a 26 year old East Orange resident was arrested on 6-26-14 by Detectives on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on a previous DWI complaint issued out of South Orange. The subject was arrested at his residence, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.
Disorderly/arrest
Aaron Smelly, a 19 year old Newark resident was arrested on Sunday 6-29-14 at approximately 3:15pm after an Officer on routine patrol observed the subject strike another while on South Orange Ave. adjacent to Sloan St. The Officer arrested the subject for the offense, transported him to police headquarters and processed him accordingly.

Attempted theft of vehicle
A West South Orange Ave. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of Sunday 6-15-14 an unknown actor(s) had attempted to remove his vehicle (2003 Audi) from his driveway by breaking the ignition to same.
Criminal mischief
A West Orange resident stated that he had parked his vehicle (1997 Toyota) in the Transit lot adjacent to Church St. on Friday 6-20-14 at approximately 5:00pm and when he returned to it a few hours later he discovered that some unknown actor(s) has slashed the front and rear passenger’s side tires.
