From Columbia High School:

CHS Study Buddies is a new program available to elementary and middle school families who would like support around homework issues.

Study Buddies is a project coordinated by Judy Cohen (CHS Student Assistance Counselor), Falynn Balassone (CHS Guidance Counselor), and Alison Steiner (SOMS Social Worker). They have worked with Ms. Cohen’s Peer Leadership training program at CHS to identify students who will work one on one with students that struggle with homework completion.

Although the CHS Study Buddies are not tutors, they can help students with time management and organization, project planning, staying on task, and taking appropriate breaks when needed. Study Buddies will bring their own homework to the student’s house to model excellent homework completion behavior, and eventually will wean the student from the need for supervision.

The fee for this program is $15 per hour. Families who are interested should click HERE for the form and email it to Alison Steiner. Ms. Steiner will provide you with the information for two or three potential Study Buddies for your approval. You will then work directly with the Study Buddy to coordinate scheduling.

Questions? Email or call Alison Steiner at 973-378-2772 x2012.
