It gives me great pleasure to endorse Donna Smith for South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education.

As a 25-year resident of South Orange, Donna deeply loves and intimately understands our unique and complex community. She’s nurtured three boys through our school system, each of whom had unique and different experiences. Donna recognizes the strengths of our school system to serve students of many backgrounds and needs but, as a working mom and taxpayer, she knows the financial burden we residents feel to keep our schools strong.

South Orange – Maplewood BOE candidate Donna Smith

Donna has been an active voice in the evolution of our school district, participating as a PTA volunteer, an informed ‘board watcher’ and as a friend and counsel to members of the BOE. Her work experience as an attorney and adjunct professor of law gives her insight into the operational best practices required to meet the distinct challenges that this district faces. Donna is the type of board member who will help the BOE move with efficiency and effectiveness, without compromising on due diligence.

Most importantly, Donna believes in educating all students. She will ensure that proper interventions and instruction are provided for students who struggle, students with special needs and students who are grade levels ahead. She will ensure teachers have the support, resources and training to provide differentiated coursework to meet the needs and challenges of our diverse student body. And she will ensure there is accountability to make it happen.

Please join me this November in voting for Donna Smith for the Board of Education.

Sincerely,

Madhu Pai
