The following is from the South Orange – Maplewood School District:

Dear Middle School Student,

This is your summer math packet to prepare for the math class you are taking in September. All students are expected to understand this content and the different problem types to be ready for next school year. You will bring your packet to school in September, and your math teacher will spend a few days going over it in class.

Support for completing your summer packet…

  1. If you lose your summer packet, you can download another one from the District website>Departments>Math Department>Middle School Math Documents page. (https://www.somsd.k12.nj.us/Page/4091)
  2. Resource Packets and Answer Keys will also be available on the Middle School Math Documents page. These are designed to show model problems or to check if your answer is correct.
  3. A Summer Math Help Teacher will be available on weekdays from June 27 – July 29 from 1:00-3:00pm at SOMS Room 228 to help students with the summer packet. The location will be posted on the doors at SOMS. The schedule and location will also be posted on the Middle School Math Documents page.
  4. If you get truly stuck on a problem, note that on your packet. In the Fall your new math teacher can guide the class through that problem.
  5. Students attending the math summer program should bring the packet to class. The teachers will provide time and support to work on them.
  6. You can also use TenMarks online to improve your math readiness during the summer (TenMarks will be unavailable July 19-31). Your current math teacher will enroll you and provide your login and password information. If you need computer and internet access, join the Summer Math Help Teacher at SOMS Room 228 from 1:00-3:00pm, June 27-July 29.

Have a great summer!!
