Millburn High Ranks #13 in Newsweek’s Top High Schools 2015

Millburn High School has been ranked #13 in Newsweek’s latest list of top U.S. high schools. Other local schools that did well include Chatham High School (#69), Summit Senior High School (#80) and Union County Tech (#83). (See the full rankings here.) Columbia High School in South Orange-Maplewood did not make the list — which includes only the top 500 ranked high schools from coast to coast. See the methodology for the selections here

Newsweek Magazine has released its annual ranking of best high schools in America and Millburn High School is ranked #13 among all high schools in the United States. It is #1 among public, open enrollment high schools.  In New Jersey, Millburn is ranked #8 among all enrollment types of NJ schools (including selective admission schools), and is the #1 public, open enrollment high school in New Jersey.

Newsweek’s methodology ranks schools based on their College Readiness and percent of students heading to college.Millburn’s strong performance includes an average SAT score of 1897, and average ACT score of 27 and average AP score of 4.47.  Newsweek’s full methodology is explained here.

Board of Education President John Westfall-Kwong noted, “It takes the full community to ensure we remain at the top for our students, especially when we rank around #300 in the State in terms of dollars-spent-per-student. I commend all of our students, dedicated teachers and staff and our parents. I encourage parents to stay involved in our schools to ensure that our township continues to have the resources necessary to remain at the forefront of academic, extracurricular and character-building successes!”
