The South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education meets for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 16, at 7:30 p.m. On the agenda once again is the 2015/16 budget.
At the March 12 budget workshop, the Board discussed going further over the 2% cap by scrapping a proposal to cut an elementary school reading intervention specialist while still proposing to eliminate world languages from the elementary schools. In addition, several members of the public took to the microphone to ask the district to increase its funding to the Seth Boyden Elementary School.

To give comments and feedback on the budget, email budget@somsd.k12.nj.us. The email will be delivered to all Board of Education members.
The Board of Education will adopt the preliminary budget to send to the county at its meeting on Monday, March 16, at 7:30 p.m. On Monday, April 27, the board will hold a public hearing and will vote on the final budget and the tax levy.
