“We may score well as a town and this is great, but the distribution of services isn’t always equitable,” Sarah Taylor told TC.

Property owners will be notified of the actual 2024 annual taxes in their July 2024 tax bill. Mayor Dafis stressed that the TC is “firewalled” from the process and therefore cannot respond to specific questions concerning residents’ new assessed values.

Attempts to form a fields committee have so far not panned out. Meanwhile, TC member DeLuca suggested switching from organic to pesticides to address weeds on DeHart fields.

Dafis will be serving his third term, and DeLuca his ninth on the TC.

Most playgrounds, fields and courts will now close at sundown.

Since mid-June, there have been 31 service disruptions. However, an NJT express bus is likely not in the cards anytime soon.

“Your honeymoon is over now,” Dafis said to Township Administrator Patrick Wherry. “That’s correct,” Wherry replied. 

Some residents complained of noise and other issues at local parks and urged the TC to close all parks at sundown.

The plan addresses zoning and development that is sensitive to the scale of residential neighborhoods, preserving historic structures, stronger protection against demolitions, providing affordable housing and preparing the town for the future regarding climate change.
