Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. dedicated a bronze statue honoring Civil Rights Leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Wednesday, October 14th. The eight-foot tall statue standing on a granite pedestal was unveiled on the 50th anniversary of Dr. King receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
With the County Executive are Essex County Deputy Chief of Staff William Payne (left) and Edith Savage-Jennings, a Civil Rights icon and confidant of the King family.
The statue is located in the plaza next to the Essex County Hall of Records in Newark, NJ.
