NJTransit will resume rail, bus, light rail, and Access Link service at noon today, Gov. Christie told state leaders — including Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca — in a phone call this morning.

Travel alerts are still posted on njtransit.com, but riders should visit the site or call 973-275-5555 for service updates.

The governor also reported that there was no travel ban statewide (although Mayor Ras Baraka has continued the travel ban in Newark today), but that travelers should stay off the roads to aid in their clearing.

Major roads like the Garden State Parkway and NJ Turnpike have been cleared but have speed restrictions.

Locally, Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca reported that public works crews will continue plowing and salting today and asked that residents try to keep cars off the street and not shovel snow back into the streets.

Village President Sheena Collum lifted the State of Emergency in South Orange at 10 a.m. on Sunday. At 11 a.m. she was surveying the town to assess the situation.

South Orange Trustee Howard Levison asked residents: “South Orange firefighters need citizens to help clear snow from around fire hydrants in our neighborhoods. With your help, fire personnel can access the fire hydrants in the Village that can help save property and lives.”
