Jeff DuBowy was ceremoniously sworn into office last night as South Orange’s newest Village Trustee, surrounded by his wife and children.
In actuality, DuBowy was officially sworn into office last month — without ceremony — in order to vote at a special meeting on the fate of Village Hall.
DuBowy was appointed by the Board of Trustees on June 22 to fill Sheena Collum’s Trustee seat after Collum vacated it due to her election as Village President. DuBowy will serve through May 2017.
In his comments, DuBowy thanked his colleagues on the Board for their “kind words when they made the appointment.” He thanked his family and said he looked forward to working with the Village administration, departments and committees.
But, most of all, said DuBowy, he looked forward to serving the community.
“I know you didn’t have an opportunity to elect me, but I assure you I will work very hard to earn your trust and respect while I undertake this …. leadership role for the betterment of the South Orange community.”
