Starting Tuesday (Aug. 19), PSE&G will be milling and paving sections of roads in South Orange where they previously repaired gas main lines, according to a notice on the township website.
Roman Asphalt Corp. has been contracted by PSE&G to perform the work, which will take place on the following roads:
- South Orange Ave. from Wyoming Ave. to Briar Ct.
- Stewart from Vose Ave. to Scotland Rd.
- Vose Ave from Stewart to Montrose
The contractor is coordinating with the South Orange Police Department to address traffic control. Deputy Village Adminstrator Adam Loehner said Monday afternoon the town does not currently have information about specific road closures or how long the work will take to complete.
However, according to Sgt. Michael Corrigan of the SO Police Dept., the work began at around 7:00 am in the area of Vose and Stewart, then was moving to W. So. Orange Ave. W. So. Orange Ave will have one lane open in either direction while the west bound lane will be closed for milling and paving, between Hart Dr and So. Wyoming.
As of 12:30 p.m., traffic was moving fairly well on W. So. Orange Avenue, according to an eyewitness.
