New Jersey Monthly Magazine recently named Millburn High School the fifth best public high school in the state.
In its biennial list, the magazine ranked MHS fifth after West Morris Mendham High School, Northern Highlands Regional High School, Haddonfield Memorial High School and Chatham High School, according to an article in the Millburn Item. Chatham High School took the top spot.
MHS placed above New Providence High School, which last year ranked number one.
Rankings are based on data for the 2012-13 school year reported by the schools to the New Jersey Department of Education and take into account factors including student-to-teacher ratio, student results on the SAT, HSPA and Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate tests and graduation rates, according to the article.
Two new factors added to the rankings this year are the percentage of students scoring 1,550 or better on the SATs and the percentage of students enrolled in a two- or four-year college at least 16 months after high school graduation.
The complete list of the top 100 high schools will be published in the September issue, which hits newsstands Monday.
