The South Orange-Maplewood Interfaith Clergy Association will lead a solemn memorial service to mark fifteen years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The event will be held Sunday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. at The Gazebo on Springfield Avenue, near Maplewood Township’s 9/11 Memorial.
“We will come together as a community to remember, and to commit to building a better future together,” according to the event’s Facebook page.
“We will hear from a survivor of the attacks, a first responder who was at Ground Zero, and acknowledge the SOMA residents who were killed that day, as well as so many of our family, friends, colleagues, and coworkers who we all know that died as well,” said Rabbi Jesse Olitzsky of Congregation Beth El. “We will also honor our own local First Responders.”
The ceremony will be approximately 30-45 minutes.
