From South Orange Village Center Alliance (SOVCA):
Sidewalk art walk to raise money for the COVID-19 SOMA Family Support Fund sponsored by Sparkhouse Toys.
On Saturday, June 6th, from noon to 4:00 PM, the SOMA community will join in a different kind of parade to raise money to provide food and other essential materials to over 500 SOMA families in need.
To take part, create and display a “message of hope” artwork on your front walk or yard. Use any materials you like (chalk, posters, etc.), and get the whole family involved! You can register and donate at www.sparkhouse.net. You can also help create artwork in other locations around town, contact sparkhousetoys@gmail.com for more information.
There is no parade “route” or gathering. When the event starts, everyone can join in wherever they are, visiting (at a safe social distance) the artwork of friends and neighbors. The Hope Parade’s online map on the Sparkhouse website www.sparkhouse.net will list participating locations, and the artwork that get the most “likes” can win prizes!
The COVID-19 SOMA Family Support Fund is a joint initiative of South Orange Village, Maplewood Township, and Rent Party. The fund is administered by The Parenting Center of SOMSD.
This event is made possible with the support of the South Orange and Maplewood Recreation Departments. For further information contact sparkhousetoys@gmail.com.
