Friday meant good weather and lots of shopping, as merchants around the Village participated in a the first of a two-day Sidewalk Sale. Stores will sell their wares from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Even early on Friday morning, sales were brisk at many merchants, with shoppers planning ahead for next year’s teacher gifts, holiday knick-knacks and coming birthdays.
“The Summer Sidewalk Sale is a win-win opportunity for shoppers and merchants alike,” said Julie Doran, director of the Maplewood Village Alliance. “It gives shoppers the chance to find great bargains while the merchants get to clear the store to make space for the Fall goodies which are arriving daily — and, of course, Maplewood Village is the perfect backdrop for shopping and strolling. Visitors should take a look inside the stores as well, you never know what you might find and if the weather doesn’t cooperate, that’s where all the action will be.”
