The Christmas trees are piling up curbside across Maplewood and South Orange. Here’s all the information on municipal tree pickup from each town’s respective website:
Maplewood
Holiday trees and greenery will be collected by the Department of Public Works between December 30 and January 31. Residents should remove all ornaments and place their trees at curbside for collection. Trees will be picked up daily from Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Update: Residents should not bring trees to the Public Works yard. They should simply place them at the curb for DPW to collect. This is due to safety concerns as we have numerous large vehicles, along with piles of leaves and soon to be piles of trees. It would be much safer for residents to leave them at curbside.
No trees will be collected after January 31, 2016.
South Orange
The South Orange Department of Public Works will be collecting Christmas trees beginning midweek of January 1, 2017. Please be advised of the following guidelines regarding the curbside collection:
– Do NOT wrap Christmas Trees in plastic for collection
– Do NOT leave ornaments, garland, or lights on the tree
– Wreaths will NOT be picked up as part of this collection
Residents should adhere to these guidelines as to not have the pickup rejected.
