West Orange Police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a fatal car crash that took the life of a 72-year-old West Orange woman early Wednesday morning.
Juliet Bergen, 72, of West Orange was struck by a Toyota Camry in the vicinity of Mount Pleasant Avenue and Kelly Drive in West Orange at around 7:36 a.m., according to a release from Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and West Orange Police Chief James Abbott.
Bergen sustained life threatening injuries, and was pronounced dead at University Hospital in Newark at 8:15 a.m. yesterday.
No criminal charges have been filed against the driver, who stopped and called for assistance, but the investigation is active and ongoing, authorities said.
