Funeral services for Deja Rodriguez, the 24-year-old Newark woman whose body was found in the South Mountain Reservation last Tuesday, will be held this Wednesday, April 22 at noon at the Evans-Gordon Funeral Home at 736 Clinton Avenue in Newark.
Family members had reported Rodriguez missing on February 16. Rodriguez’ body was identified on Friday.
A final ruling on the cause of death is pending toxicology results, but the Medical Examiner has determined it does not appear to be a homicide. Toxicology reports could take “quite a while” to be completed, said a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and might take months.
Rodriguez was last seen in the area of South Orange Avenue and South 10th Street, according to a March 24 article on NJ.com.
On Facebook, a friend described Rodriguez as an “innocent, joyful person” who was “loving and caring.”
A family friend reports that the family is not seeking help with funeral expenses. However, flowers are welcomed.
