A man walking on Brook Lane late Monday night, July 28, was robbed of his wallet by two men wearing ski masks and displaying handguns, according to Maplewood police.
The men demanded the victim’s wallet before fleeing to a vehicle waiting on a side street. The vehicle fled the area before Maplewood police arrived. The victim was not injured.

July 28, 2014; Robbery; At approximately 3 p.m., a male on Franklin Terrace was closing the door to his delivery truck when two males grabbed him and took cash out of his pocket. The two males then fled into Irvington on Headley Terrace. The actors, Andre Jones, age 18, of Irvington and DeJay Edwards, age 23, of Newark were located in Irvington and arrested a short while later. They were both charged with the robbery and transported to Essex County Jail.
July 28, 2014; Carjacking; At approximately 3:15 p.m., a Hispanic male entered a vehicle that was left running on Millburn Ave. The owner of the vehicle was alerted to this and attempted to stop the male. He was dragged a short distance as the male stole the vehicle. The owner and another male were able to follow the stolen vehicle and block it at the intersection of Millburn Ave and Vauxhall Rd in Millburn. Millburn police were able to take custody of the thief later identified as Jose Vasquez, age 40, of Summit. He was turned over to Maplewood Police Department, charged and transported to Essex County jail.
July 28, 2014; Robbery; At approximately 10:30 p.m., A male walking on Brook Lane was approached by two males wearing ski masks and displaying handguns. The demanded his wallet before fleeing to a vehicle that was waiting on a side street. Officers were in the area within minutes, but the vehicle had already fled the area. The victim was not injured.
July 29, 2014; Burglary; A multifamily home on Burnett Ave was entered and two separate apartments were burglarized. Jewelry and a tablet were reported stolen from one apartment. The proceeds from the second apartment were unknown at the time of the report.
July 31, 2014; Cell Phone Theft; At approximately 7:35 PM, a 13 year old juvenile was walking near Rutgers St and Springfield Ave when his cell phone was snatched out of his hand by a group of three males on bicycles. The group was later located in Irvington and the 16 year old and two 17 year olds from Irvington were arrested for the theft as well as drug paraphernalia.
