The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, Jr. came to life at South Mountain School this past December. Fifth grade students were cast in the principal roles and third and fourth graders supported as the chorus.
Students rehearsed weekly from September to December 2016 to bring the story of Stanley Lambchop alive through character acting and well executed singing and dancing numbers.
The musical was sponsored by the South Mountain School PTA and directed by the school’s music teacher Ms. Ebony Wiggins. Parents Nerissa Aschoff and Julia Smith were the show’s choreographer and producer, respectively.
The Story: Stanley Lambchop -“your ordinary, everyday ten-year-old boy until the bulletin board on the wall above his bed comes loose and falls right on top of him. The next morning, Stanley wakes up flat. In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley – the ultimate exchange student- scours the globe for a solution to his unusual problem. He’s stamped, posted and cancelled from Hollywood and France to Honolulu and beyond, all in an effort to become a three-dimensional boy once more.” – Music Theatre International.
