For the second time this year, South Orange Middle School will be closed because of a water main break.
The district sent the following email to families on Easter Sunday afternoon:
Dear South Orange Middle School Families,
SOMS will be closed tomorrow, Monday March 28th, due to a water main break. We expect that school will be open on Tuesday, but will advise you if this changes.
South Orange Maplewood School District
The school also was shut down on Friday, January 8 because of a water main break on Ridgewood Road. An East Orange Water Commission employee then told a reporter the break, in the line going directly into the school, was likely due to to a combination of the aging piping and the cold weather, which had caused the pipe to crack.
