To the Editor,
In the upcoming primary election, voters will have the opportunity to choose two dynamic and experienced candidates for Maplewood Township Committee: Nancy Adams and Jerry Ryan.
Both are extremely well-qualified, and each has an extensive history of local community involvement. Nancy is a seeking elective office for the first time, while Jerry has nearly 20 years of service on the Township Committee. Nancy has many years’ professional and volunteer experience in economic development, which started in Maplewood as one of the founders of the Springfield Avenue Partnership. As a public servant, Jerry has consistently shown leadership in a wide variety of projects and initiatives on the Township Committee. He has deep knowledge of labor and employment matters, and is also a key participant for issues involving engineering, planning and zoning.
I have worked closely with Nancy and Jerry on the Maplewood Planning Board. I know them both to be critical thinkers – insightful, informed and never reluctant to ask tough questions. Equally important, I have known each of them within our community over many years. I first met Nancy when we both had children in Tuscan school. I recollect that I first met Jerry on the old Citizen’s budget advisory committee, and we also worked together on the local arts council in the 1990s.
This year’s Democratic primary is contested – every vote counts. I urge my fellow Democrats to get out and vote on June 2nd for Adams and Ryan, the endorsed Democratic candidates for Maplewood Township Committee.
