The Maplewood Township Committee will introduce the 2016 municipal budget at its meeting on Tuesday night. This comes after several budget workshops held over the last couple of months.
The TC also will vote to introduce an ordinance to establish a cap bank, which will allow the governing body to tap into its surplus funds in order to keep the tax hike below 2%. Roughly $1 million of the surplus comes from the sale last year of the Post Office.
A public hearing on the budget will be held on April 19.
The TC also will vote on the budgets for Maplewood Village Alliance and the Springfield Avenue Partnership.
In other business, the TC will vote to hire Paul J. Kittner, Jr. as the new Township Engineer. Kittner would replace Thomas Malavasi, who stepped down earlier this year.
