In February, Maplewood installed six new pedestrian mid-street crosswalk signs on busy intersections of Prospect Street as part of an overall traffic safety initiative. The signs met with approval from many residents, who have been increasingly concerned about traffic safety in the town.
Recently, an alert reader alerted Village Green to the fact that the signs were gone. We reached out to Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca, who promptly cleared up the mystery.
“The signs are being updated with a stop symbol rather than yield symbol,” said DeLuca. “Expect the signs to be back on the road by end of next week.”
The signs will return to the intersections of Prospect and Bowdoin, Courter, Oakview, Madison, Elmwood and Franklin Place.
