Snow Storm Tips

Mayor Vic DeLuca posted the following message on Maplewood Online at 2:43 p.m:

“[PSE&G] expect some power outages throughout the region due to high winds. In case of outages, our emergency shelter will open at the Community Center in DeHart Park, 120 Burnett Avenue. We have a generator so lights, charging stations, and heat will be available. We will publicize the availability of the shelter and the police will also have the information at 973-762-1234.”

The snow storm will likely result in downed tree limbs and power lines. Please take the proper precautions if your area is impacted including:

Trees, Limbs, Power and Gas lines:

Downed power lines or exposed gas lines are not to be approached. The proper utility company should be contacted immediately to address any utility line hazards.

Trees and tree limbs may be prone to failure from this weather event. Any employees outdoors should take care to reduce the chance of injury from falling branches, downed power lines, and automobiles on the road.

Snow Removal Tips:

Removal all cars from the street. Do not shovel your driveway apron until you are sure the plows are finished plowing the street.

If you see a salt truck or plow truck driving behind you, let them pass you so they can clear the way for you and open the roadways quicker.
