Eleven volunteers from Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel, a Reform congregation in South Orange, spent a fulfilling day working on a Habitat for Humanity build in Morristown. They were led by Carol Paster (center, in orange shirt), TSTI’s director of early childhood education and a West Orange resident, who has a long-time involvement with the Morris Habitat for Humanity; she often incorporates educational and charitable activities in her classrooms to benefit the organization.
The TSTI crew spent the day helping to expand a duplex that will soon provide a home for two families. Alex Winkler (South Orange),Tara Evenson, Matt and Marcia Michaels (Maplewood), Dennis Perscher (Maplewood), Mark Winkler (South Orange), Max and Mollie Weisenfeld (Maplewood), Ruth Richards (Short Hills), Carol Schiffman (West Orange), and Paster worked alongside one of the future homeowners on roofing and insulation. TSTI has an extensive social action initiative that engages members of all ages, from preschoolers to retirees. For more information about the vibrant Reform synagogue, visit www.tsti.org.
