Last week, we told you about Maplewood resident and recording artist Alex Kariotis‘ four-song Christmas EP.
Kariotis has sung it all — operatic performances as a lyric tenor at Avery Fisher Hall, to stage performances with the Rock Opera Orchestra, to ballparks throughout the U.S. and Canada. But now he has turned his talents to the canon of holiday classics and will be releasing four Christmas songs through next week.
Kariotis said that the four-song EP has been fashioned as “a thank-you to our fans and to put us all in the holiday spirit.”
Today’s song is “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” — the holiday standard first recorded by Bing Crosby in 1943, a heartbreaking tune at the time for the thousands of American soldiers fighting World War II overseas.
Kariotis is accompanied by John Conte on piano, Kevin Brown on bass, and Alan Michaels on drums. The song is mixed by Roy Hendrickson.
