Remember when your mom told you to never play in the street?
Well, South Orange residents are now being encouraged to go play in the street — with the first-ever PlayDay South Orange taking place from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 21 on South Orange Avenue in the Village Center.
Bob Zuckerman of the South Orange Village Center Alliance is billing PlayDay South Orange as the “the greatest day of play to ever hit South Orange.”
The family-oriented event will include inflatables, health & fitness activities, sports, classic games, live music, art, and contests. Hopscotch, basketball, chess, min-golf, jump rope and Connect 4 are already lined up, with more to come.
By the way, the street will be closed to traffic — making it plenty safe.
Meanwhile, Zuckerman and SOVCA are looking for volunteers to help with this huge event. “We need help with all sorts of things,” said Zuckerman, “but whatever a volunteer‘s assignment is we promise it will be fun! ”
Plus, all volunteers get a free PlayDay t-shirt and free food.
