Montclair State University’s African Drumming Ensemble had Seth Boyden School’s 3rd Grade staff and students on their feet dancing and drumming their way into the start of a second partnership year!
Led by John J. Cali School of Music’s Adjunct Faculty member Robert Levin, the MSU African-Drum Ensemble performance event at Seth Boyden on March 8 marked the start of Seth Boyden School’s second year music partnership initiative with the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University.
South Orange-Maplewood School District Fine Arts Supervisor James A. Manno stated, “We are all looking forward to the Montclair State University African Drumming Ensemble providing Seth Boyden students with an interactive hands-on learning experience for a second year in a row. This year the focus is Grade 3 students.”
At the residency KICK-OFF assembly on March 8, students and teachers were dancing, playing African percussion instruments and singing along with the ensemble.
Principal Shannon Glander provided closing remarks and encouraged interested students to enroll in the grant funded 10 week residency program.
