New Jersey Monthly has named Abril Cocina, a Mexican fusion restaurant that opened in Maplewood Village last April, as one of the state’s best new restaurants.
“By fall, Friday-night lines for dishes such as hangar steak with fresh corn grits and ancho-umami sauce were a dozen deep,” reads the write-up.
The article also singles out the mole chicken wings with sesame seeds, lime cream and chipotle salsa (available for take out for Super Bowl Sunday), the bahn mi sandwich with pulled pork in adobo, pork rillettes, pickled vegetables and chipotle aioli, as well as the housemade salsa and chips.
