The South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education has a very busy agenda scheduled for its meeting on Monday night (at 7:30 p.m. at the Administration Building at 525 Academy Street, Maplewood).
The full agenda can be found on the SOMSD website.
In addition to discussing the administration’s recommendation that the district discontinue the International Baccalaureate Program in middle school, the board will vote on repealing a ban on homeschooled students participating in Columbia High School athletics and discuss potentially ending the accelerated English Language Arts program.
Significant changes to the middle school schedule — including reducing the amount of Spanish instruction 6th and 7th graders receive from two semesters to one each year — will also be discussed.
The board also will vote on approval of the 2015-16 budget, and approving an agreement to hire Dr. John Ramos as the new Superintendent of Schools through 2020.
