To the Editor:
As a newly elected member to the South Orange Maplewood Board of Education, I want to thank the community for giving me an opportunity to serve. Over the course of the past several months, I’ve been able to share my experiences, my views, and what skills I think I can bring to the table. Thank you to all of my supporters, who put in so much effort on behalf of my campaign, spending countless hours walking neighborhoods, handing out flyers, hosting coffees, and spreading the word to friends and neighbors.
This campaign has been a listening and learning experience for me. During my term I will bring a spirit of collaboration to the board — looking back at all the debates, campaign events, and going door to door, it is clear that this community shares more things in common than we do apart. I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues, Maureen Jones, Beth Daugherty, Wayne Eastman, Jeff Bennett, Stephanie Lawson-Muhammad, Johanna Wright, Elizabeth Baker and Madhu Pai, and sincerely thank the outgoing members, Sandra Karriem, Andrea Wren-Hardin and Bill Gaudelli, for their dedicated service.
