The South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education introduced a draft calendar for the 2016/17 school year tonight, with plans to vote on the calendar at its October meeting.
While Board members like Beth Daugherty and Donna Smith said they liked the calendar (“It gets us out the third week in June,” said Daugherty, noting that the late end of the school year elicited the most feedback from parents), Board member Jeff Bennett wondered if the calendar might be better able to align with other districts or add more holidays.
Important for vacation planning: Spring break is scheduled for April 10-14, 2017, the week before Easter, which is on April 16, 2017.
