It has been just over two years since Daibes Enterprises LLC broke ground on a 5,000 square foot mixed-use building on Springfield Avenue across from the Police Station.

After numerous delays, false hopes and frustrations, it seems there is an end in sight.

The project is moving ahead and is on track to be completed by sometime by the fall, said Mayor Vic DeLuca. Currently, scaffolding is on the building so the construction company, Lita Brothers, can finish the outside brick work. That should take roughly ten days to two weeks, and then they will obtain the permits to allow them to begin the mechanicals and interior work.

“That brings us pretty close to the [June] deadline” required as part of the $1 million performance bond Lita Brothers is subject to, said DeLuca. “That’s our ace in the hole.”

At this point in the project, Lita has taken the lead and Daibes has “a back seat” and is responsible for the project’s completion.
