One of Maplewood’s favorite annual rites returned this Memorial Day, as the Kiwanis Rubber Duck Race hit the Rahway River immediately following the Maplewood Memorial Day Parade.
For $5 a pop, locals sponsored their own rubber ducks to compete is six heats and win prizes such as tablets, speakers, televisions and gift certificates to local businesses.
This year, the South Mountain YMCA was proud to co-sponsor the Rubber Duck Race with the South Orange/Maplewood Kiwanis Club. Each year, proceeds from this race are donated to charities that support children in the community.
