Most students in the South Orange-Maplewood School District returned to school today. First-day outfits were carefully selected, gleaming backpack fashion was sported, and hair carefully combed, brushed and braided.
There were some snafus: buses were late here and there. But teachers and students greeted each other happily. And parents shed a few tears — some of sadness at the passage of time and some of pure joy for summer’s end.
