From Studio B in Maplewood:
Studio B, a local non-profit arts organization known for producing eclectic, stand-room-only events, will be hosting its 4th annual Holiday Bizarre Bazaar on Sunday, December 11 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Applications for a space at the Bazaar are due Friday, October 28 – just two weeks away.
“We’ve already received a significant number of applications,” says Marcy Thompson, Studio B Honcho. “More than we had at this time last year.”
“We are thrilled at the number of artists who are interested in this event. It’s a testament to the tremendous creative energy in our communities,” adds Jenny Turner Hall, Studio B Honcho.
In the past, this highly-curated event has featured handmade jewelry, fine art, sewn and knitted textiles, paper goods, quality vintage finds, holiday delights, eclectic evening bags, home décor, handmade clothing and a thousand things beyond description. The only thing that all of these items have in common? They are all 100 percent unique.
Focusing on local artists and artisans, attendance at the Bazaar has grown each year – but the number of artists remains the same: 40. That means competition for a space at the Bazaar is growing.
Here’s how the application process works:
- Fill out the Bizarre Bazaar application here
- Describe your work, include photos
- Submit application by Friday, October 28
- 40 artists will be chosen
- Notification will be given on November 7
Upon acceptance, participants will submit a $75 dollar table fee, and receive further instructions about Bazaar set up and timing. Studio B does not take a percentage of sales.
“Of course we’re looking forward to bringing back our beloved Snowman again this year. This event gives him a chance to bring out his creative side,” says Thompson. “He does not, however, play a part in the decision making process.”
