Serial launched in the fall of 2014 and became the fastest podcast to reach five million downloads in iTunes history. In 2015, Serial also became the first podcast ever to win a Peabody Award. Co-created by veteran radio journalists and producers Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder, Serial quickly went on to become the most popular podcast in the world. For its first season, it presented a 12-part series centered on one legal case, taking its time and proving that slow-motion journalism could captivate and sustain its vast podcast listenership. The eagerly-anticipated season two will be released in November.

“We were so heartened by the response to the first season of Serial,” said Snyder. “It proved to us that there really is an audience out there for reported, nuanced and complicated journalism. We’re also excited to apply the lessons we learned from our first season to our next season — which is hopefully coming out soon!”

The event will take place at the Columbia High School Auditorium. Tickets are $20 and $5 for students with a valid id.
