On Sunday, December 7, 40 local artists, crafters and collectors will fill The Woodland with their unique, high-quality work.
Now in its second year, the Holiday Bizarre Bazaar boasts the “largest group of local artists under one roof,” and what’s more — their work is for sale.
Studio B, a local arts organization dedicated to promoting and producing the work of the creative citizens of Maplewood and South Orange, began the Holiday Bizarre Bazaar as a way of adding to the “amazing shopping experience in our two towns,” says Studio B co-founder, Marcy Thompson. She adds, “The artists of our community have so much to offer – this event really helps them to show off their talents.”
Artists who participate in the Holiday Bizarre Bazaar go through a rigorous application process in order to be selected, and this year, Studio B received a huge number of applications. “We had to make some tough choices about who we could accept this year – which we’re hoping will only make this year’s Bazaar that much stronger,” says Jenny Turner Hall, Studio B co-founder.
A wide variety of vendors will be present, with price ranges to match any holiday buying budget. Just to round out the experience, you can have your picture taken with the Abominable Snowman for just five dollars.
Reaction from the art community has been overwhelmingly positive. The Bizarre Bazaar is among only a handful of events where artists can share their work with the public. Says Thompson, “We are so proud to count them as our neighbors.”
