This March, Maplewood will resemble a town-wide art gallery as some of Maplewood’s storefronts transform into exhibit spaces for the return of Windows for Women. This month-long event creates partnerships between women business owners and women artists to showcase original art pieces.
In celebration of Women’s History Month, 31 women-owned businesses have partnered with 32 women artists to display a variety of art across Maplewood. With the goal of women lifting women, the Windows for Women project gives residents and visitors the opportunity to support women-owned businesses and women artists at the same time.
“Last year, the program was very well-received by business owners, artists, and residents,” says Maplewood Village Alliance manager Cat Delett, “and we are thrilled to be bringing it back again this year. Windows for Women lives at that distinctly SOMa crossroads where local shopping and dining meets supporting the arts.”
Women-owned businesses across three of Maplewood’s business districts are participating: Maplewood Village, Springfield Avenue, and Ridgewood Row. Visitors can view or download a map at the event webpage, which lists the participating businesses and links to the artists.
“Windows for Women is a fun opportunity to take a tour of Maplewood’s women-owned businesses and view – and maybe purchase – art created by local artists,” adds Nicole Dooskin Wallace of the Springfield Avenue Partnership.
