From the Springfield Avenue Partnership:
The Springfield Avenue Partnership has announced two family-friendly events on Springfield Avenue this Sunday, June 23rd, GFEST 2019, a gathering of cool cars and car enthusiasts and The Imagination Garden, a community art project by and for kids.
GFEST, short for “Gutenfest,” is the annual get together for car enthusiasts brought to you by Guten Parts + Service. According to Levent Erhamza, owner of Maplewood-based Guten Parts + Service and Maplewood resident, “It’s about getting the community of car lovers together in person. Everything from daily drivers to rare collectibles will be parked in the municipal lots along Springfield Avenue in Maplewood.”
Stop by the registration table at Yale Corner, 1866 Springfield Ave, pick up a T-shirt and map, then walk the Avenue to check out the cars and meet fellow car lovers. Locally owned and operated Ruthiesnj Food Truck will be serving Breakfast and Lunch items and the new Shake Shack Food Truck will be serving Lunch.
In addition the many restaurants along Springfield Avenue will be open for business. A directory of restaurants and other businesses and attractions can be found at: Springfield Avenue Business Directory.
THE IMAGINATION GARDEN
Adding to the fun is a family-friendly community art project, where kids of all ages are welcome and encouraged to participate in the creation of a new mural installation. The project is being led by Maplewood resident and artist Brian McGowan & created by kids!
Brian will be onsite between 10am and 2pm at the new Yale Corner leading the mural project entitled “The Imagination Garden” – to be installed at the new community space at Yale St. & Springfield Ave.
