A man attempted to steal oxycontin from the pharmacy at the Rite Aid in South Orange, according to police.
On Friday at around 9:40 p.m., a man described as black, in his 20s, with dreadlocks, wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants walked up to the counter and handed an employee a note demanding the drugs, police said. The man lifted his shirt and revealed what appeared to be a handgun.
The man then ran away without getting the drug. Officers searched the area but did not find him. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
